Born in 1979, Klami belongs to the youngest generation of Finnish contemporary composers. His output includes works for orchestra and soloists and orchestra, a chamber opera, chamber music, works for solo instruments, choral works, electro-acoustic works, multimedia works and electronic music for short films. In recent years Klami's music has been performed at many important music festivals and concerts both in Finland and abroad.
Klami has received two First Prizes in national composition competitions in Finland with his orchestral works. In 2009, his Clarinet Concerto FUME was selected to the Jury's list of recommended works in the 2nd International Uuno Klami Composition Competition.
Klami has received commissions from and collaborated (among others) with clarinetist Lauri Sallinen, flutist Hanna Kinnunen, guitarists Patrik Kleemola, Massimo Felici, Kimmo Rahunen and Patrick Vena, Uusinta Chamber Ensemble, Turku 2011 European Capital of Culture, Se ensemble, Polytech Choir, Chorus Cathedralis Iuniorum, Kemiönsaari Music Guild and Helsinki Guitar Society.
In 2008-2011 Klami was the chairman of Ears Open Society, a society for young composers from and living in Finland. Ears Open promotes the works by youngest generation of composers by arranging public concerts, performances and seminars. In 2010 Klami was elected to the of board of Finnish Music Council for 2-year term. Klami is one of the organizers of the annual international Brinkhall Summer Concerts Festival in Turku, Finland.
